Handsome, soulful Phill the water buffalo narrowly escaped a tragic fate multiple times--he fled his property before being slaughtered, and then was shot by police on the run. Phill was loose in Des Moines for days, scared and confused, before being humanely captured and taken to ISU for treatment of his injuries. Phill’s story captured the hearts of people nationwide, and we’re so relieved it has a happy ending. He will live out his life in the peace and safety of sanctuary--like he deserves.
